About the whales
In the 30 years that we have been whale watching we have seen 15 species of whales. This list includes 7 species of "great" whales (whales that are over 30 feet in length). These species include the Blue Whale (the largest animal in the world!) Humpback Whale, Finback Whale, Sperm Whale, Minke Whale, Sei Whale, and the extremely endangered North Atlantic Right Whale.
In addition we have also sighted many other "smaller" (and "small" is a relative term when talking about whales) species such as Pilot Whales, Belugas, Harbor Porpoise, and 5 types of Dolphins (Atlantic White-sided, White-beaked, Common, Bottlenose, and Rizzo's).
Click the drop-down menu at the top of this page to see photographs and learn about the many species of whales that we see, and to learn more important information about whale watching from Gloucester.
We hope that you enjoy looking at the many photographs and learning about the whales we are so fortunate to have just off our coast. See you on the water!
